Welcome to GIST Department of AI Convergence !

The Department of AI Convergence at GIST (formerly the Graduate School of AI and the School of Integrated Technology) is operated in connection with the Ministry of Science and ICT’s AI Graduate School Support Program. Its mission is to cultivate global AI innovation talent by integrating education, research, and entrepreneurship. The program enables students to engage intensively in foundational and core AI education based on real-world data and SW/HW infrastructure, along with field-oriented research focused on technology validation and entrepreneurship over a period of 4 to 5 years..

Each year, we select outstanding students for the integrated Master’s–Ph.D. program. These students complete foundational and core AI theory and practical training, as well as global internship experiences during their 1st to 3rd years. In their 4th and 5th years, they carry out validation-based R&D geared toward AI startups. In response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we are also making efforts to foster field-ready AI professionals by connecting the largest domestic AI computing infrastructure and testbeds—being established in the “AI Industry Convergence Complex”—with the department’s education and training environments in a phased, hands-on manner, in alignment with the DNA (Data–Network–AI) strategy..

The coming future is one of disruptive innovation through open collaboration. Based on the AI + X (AI for X) concept, open collaboration between AI technologies and various fields (X) is essential for building a virtuous cycle of innovation and cooperation driven by AI advancements.
